Asus Tech made for Vodafone a Windows Mobile Smartphone VDA IV that was approved by the FCC. This smartphone is a tri-band GSM with 3G frequencies for Europe/Asia. However, it doesn't have any camera which means it is not capable of Video Calling. This standard smartphone doesn't stand out anyhow.

The specifications of Vodafone VDA IV are the following :

Nokia 6133 launched by T-Mobile

T-Mobile today launched the Nokia 6133. This handset features nice design and small measurements ( just 17 mm or 0.67 in tall) and is based on the Nokia 6131 model. As you know Nokia doesn't produce too many flips, but has slowly been increasing the number.

Meet Motorola ROKR E6

Motorola ROKR E6 was declared by the FCC page to be real. This music-oriented phone is a successor of the E680. The internal model of the phone is  Motorola E690; with large touch display and it runs on the Linux Operating System. The front part has big touch display and there are a few RAZR-styled keys and navigation-pad below it. There is 2-megapixel camera with macro switch at the back part, while on the left side there is SD slot for memory expansion.

BenQ-Siemens fires 1,900 of 3,000 workers

After trying for some time to save aspects of the Munich-based BenQ-Siemens handset business manager declared that 1,900 of the firm's 3,000 workers must be laid off.

There is a possibility that the remaining workers could thrive as a handset development and design house for third-party manufacturers. As a result the new business would preserve 1,100 German jobs in case it is profitable.

As Boost Mobile recently declared they are providing a new "hybrid prepaid" service in return to customer demand for more pay-as-you-go options. A service unites elements of traditional prepaid service with additional advantages:

Sprint Chooses QChat technology for PTT

Sprint announced about its decision to use Qualcomm's QChat technology for its next generation Push To Talk (PTT) service giving QChat phones the possibility to communicate with each other as well as iDEN PTT handsets on Nextel network. QChat is expected to offer exceptional call set-up performance and bandwidth savings. By launching QChat in conjunction with its Revision A network, which has quality of service features and other new technology to improve speed and reliability, Sprint should be able to match the performance users expect from iDEN phones.

Verizon Wireless Motorola RAZR MAXX announced

A Verizon Wireless branded Motorola RAZR MAXX (that was announced in June along with the KRZR and RIZR ) promotional image became known, with some rumors that a CDMA version of the phone is coming. The MAXX was introduced as a new 3G folder with touch sensitive external music controls. CDMA RAZR MAXX features cannot yet be confirmed

The GSM version features:

  • a QVGA screen,
  • microSD card slot,
  • Bluetooth
  • 50MB memory
  • a 2-megapixel camera.
