The handset you see on the picture could be the first phone to run Samsung's new Bada OS. That's according to Mobile Phone Helpdesk Europe. However, the authenticity of the above photo is not confirmed, so it also could be fake. But let's assume that were looking at the real thing. What are your thoughts?

Owners of the Garmin-ASUS M20 can finally update their handset to Windows Mobile 6.5. Apart from that, the phone will become available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech, Turkey, and other markets (excluding North America and Western Europe) by the end of 2009.

FCC has recently approved the new Nokia 5230, which apparently will be heading to T-Mobile, judging by the battery size (BL-5J) and support for AWS 3G bands. The phone has a decent list of features, which includes:

  • Symbian S60 5th edition OS;
  • AWS 3G bands support;
  • 3.2" touchscreen supporting 16.7M colors;
  • Accelerometer and proximity sensor;
  • 7 different color combinations;
  • 70MB internal memory;

Samsung 'Bada' - the company's own OS

Next month Samsung will be releasing its own new mobile OS, dubbed ''Bada'' ("ocean" in Korean), that's meant to enable smartphone-like features on mid-range handsets. The system will be open-source, and will allow developers to create applications and services for it. It has a rich graphical UI that can be incorporated into applications as well as basic functions like dialer, messaging, and address book.

According to BGR, Verizon will be releasing an over-the-air update for Motorola DROID and HTC DROID Eris handsets on December 11th. The update will address some firmware issues and bugs.

Verizon's First Open Development Handset - the Saygus VPhone

According to PhoneScoop, the new Saygus VPhone, previously known as the V1, will be Verizon's first Open Development Initiative handset. The V1 comes with an impressive feature list; one of those stand-out features is going to be a video sharing service that will allow two people to share a live, two-way video stream. T-Mobile Now Offers Tap Touch Phone

T-Mobile has released the Tap, a Huawei-made touch phone with a classic form-factor and a large touch-sensitive display. Its features are pretty decent, and include:

  • Quad-band GSM/EDGE;
  • 1700MHz UMTS/HSDPA 3G network;
  • 2Mpix camera with video capture;
  • Music player;
  • GPS;
  • FM radio;
  • Stereo Bluetooth;
  • microSD slot (up to 8GB)

The Tap is now available for $80 after rebates with new contract.
