Asus slaps 64-bit Intel Moorefield chip on Fonepad 7

The Taiwan-based device manufacturer is kicking the 64-bit festivities into gear in China.

The device spotted swinging by the FCC under the cryptic K007 codename back in August. Now, the voice call-supporting slate is called the Fonepad 7 FE7530CXG, and its local commercial launch is reportedly set for September 1.

The Intel Moorefield-powered Fonepad 7 is virtually identical to the Merrifield variant unveiled a few months ago as far as all the other specs go. Unfortunately, the 7-inch screen continues to be mediocre resolution-wise, with 1,280 x 800 pixels, and an average 1 gig of RAM takes care of multitasking.

Battery life is rated at a whopping 11.5 hours, albeit the actual ticker is unlikely to have grown in size, and Android 4.4 KitKat smoothens the software.
