It’s no surprise therefore that hardware manufacturers seem far more eager than usual to bring their devices up to date, and aside from the Nexus family, we also know a heap of Motorolas are up for bumps “over the coming weeks”.
Then you have HTC’s flagships, which the Taiwanese vowed to upgrade within 90 days of L’s announcement. But the 90 days deadline was probably HTC’s way of playing it safe, as the One M8 could actually get Lollipop earlier.
No doubt in testing already, a version of the all-aluminum beast visited the Bluetooth SIG for regulatory purposes, and so it’s not out of the question the M8 leaves KitKat behind, say, next month.
Meanwhile, Nvidia jumped at the opportunity of scoring its Shield Tablet some free publicity, tweeting “Android 5.0 Lollipop and more is coming”. A due date would be nice until revealing what exactly you mean by “more”, and maybe some good news on the Shield Portable front too.
