Ericsson potential holder of Indian contract

Posted: 12 Oct 2006

As BSNL, the only Indian carrier to offer both landlines and wireless service across the country reported that it disqualified Motorola on the basis of “technical deviations.” Reports are telling that Motorola Inc. and ZTE Corp. are ruled out from the bidding process for multibillion-dollar contract owned by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd to build a GSM network that can handle 62 million subscribers

Ericsson is expected to be the potential winner of the contract who will have about 60 percent of it which constitute $107 per line, while Nokia Corp. will probably have the rest of the contract that is $177 per line.

No more further details could be obtained.
