CSR introduced the new Ultra Low Power Bluetooth standard that can connect and send data up to 50 times faster, while consuming up to 10 times less power than the current Bluetooth 2.1 technology.
ULP Bluetooth uses a separate radio, and unlike standard Bluetooth only connects when necessary using just three frequencies (instead of 32). When connected it quickly sends the data and automatically turns off.
This way the power consumption is reduced to minimum.
