The first touchscreen-based mobile phone in the world - The new Samsung SCH-W559 - announced by Immersion Corporation will use Immersion's VibeTonz® System to provide tactile feedback for touchscreen interactions.
The Samsung SCH-W559 has a large 260,000-color QVGA LCD touchscreen display for the data input. Immersion's VibeTonz System gives the possibility to the touchscreen-displayed buttons to be more like mechanical keys. The phone also has such feature as handwriting recognition, a 1.3 megapixel camera, audio and video playback functions, and Bluetooth technology; it works on both GSM and CDMA networks. By means of integrated VibeTonz system the device has full-fidelity vibration tracks synchronized with eight preloaded ringtones.
