The nation's fifth-largest mobile operator Alltel has recently made an attempt to sell itself to a large US carrier such as AT&T, Verizon or Sprint Nextel. Despite that AT&T is willing to use this possibility, it still remains skeptical about the combination because of some negative issues that would take place in the future. On the other hand, Verizon has less obstacles in this matter and has more chances to buy Alltel. This question remains under consideration. Nevertheless, overall buyer interest is poor, but the talks have only just started.
