Despite Palm’s great efforts its net income was down 60.5%. despite the fact that they sold 738,000 Treo smartphones in the third quarter for its 2007 fiscal year, and had a 30% increase over the year-ago quarter. Palm announced its third quarter results: the 738,000 sales number was a record for the company, although net income fell from $29.9 million to $11.8 million, or $0.11 per share. Overall revenue for the quarter was $410.5 million. What else Palm did it has also expanded the number of countries in which its Treo line of smartphones is selling, including Central and South America. Ed Colligan, Palm president and CEO announced: "We delivered solid results in the third fiscal quarter and continue to expand our global market presence. Treo smartphone sell-through and revenue reached record levels, and Palm products were available to smartphone customers through seven of the top 10 carriers in the world."
