Nokia has started releasing phones with alerts informing users to unplug the charger when the battery is full.
New mobile phones will sound a beep and display an alert saying: "Battery is full, please unplug the charger". This is done to encourage consumers to save electricity and to help maximize the potential energy savings. Officials from Nokia said that such alerts could save enough energy to power 85,000 homes every year.
These alerts will first appear on Nokia 1200, 1208 and 1650 models with later handsets to follow, targeting fast growing markets like India, China and Latin America.
