Verizon-Broadcom Deal allows for Continued Import of EV-DO phones in the U.S.

Verizon has licensed Broadcom's power-saving patents, thus allowing continued importing and launching of new EV-DO phones in the U.S, despite the ITC ban placed on June 7th on handsets with certain Qualcomm chips.

Verizon has agreed to pay Broadcom $6 per each unit with a maximum of $40 million per quarter and a lifetime cap of $200 million.

This deal is a major blow for Qualcomm, which doubled its efforts to get the ITC ruling overturned after today's announcement.
