Anyone can now monitor air pollution levels in a specific location directly from their mobile phones. The new cell phone add-on, called "Squirrel", measures the level of carbon monoxide and ozone polluting substances in the surrounding air and displays the results on the phone's screen. All the gathered data is also transferred to an Internet database which monitors worldwide pollution. In the near future the device will additionally be able to measure Nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide levels, as well as temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure.
