According to reports, Sanyo is currently in negotiations with other phone manufacturers to sell its unprofitable handset business. The most likely buyers for now are Sharp and Kyocera.
Previously, Sanyo already tried to create a joint venture with Nokia's CDMA division, but it didn't work out because of financial losses.
