Verizon Wireless and Sierra Wireless have just released the new Sierra Wireless AirCard(R) 595U USB modem for use with Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess service. The device is easily connected to a PC via USB port, and uses Verizon Wireless' EV-DO Rev. A network providing average download/upload speeds of 600-1433/500-800Kbps. Also included in the package is the VZAccess Manager software compatible with Windows(R) 2000, XP and Vista operating systems, an internal removable battery, and a docking cradle for customers without PCMCIA card slots. AirCard 595U is now available online at www.verizonwireless.com and through Verizon Wireless' business sales channels. Starting August 30 it will also be available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores including those in Circuit City. The price is $179.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new 2-year contract. BroadbandAccess service costs $59.99 a month with a 2-year service agreement and provides unlimited Internet, e-mail and intranet access.
