BlackBerry released the latest version of its SDK which bumps the Android runtime support up from API Level 17 to API level 18.
This means support for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean that also includes some additional features and enhances integration with the operating system.
Most notable change comes in the form of support for Bluetooth LE (Low-Energy) and NFC, both of which were not available until Android 4.3. Although native Blackberry 10 apps could already access these services, Android-based apps were unable to use them in previous versions.
The new SDK also expands on the capabilities of the Share Framework, allowing Android apps to both register received shared data and submit it to be passed through the Share Framework.
