Today FCC has approved the HTC "Jade", better known as the Touch 3G.
Unfortunately (but expected), the 7.2Mbps HSDPA won't be available to North American users. Instead they'll have to enjoy the crappy 2G WCDMA on the 900 and 2100MHz bands, which won't even allow for chatting and browsing at the same time.
Oh well, that's life, atleast it'll make it stateside.

The newly announced HTC Touch Viva (former Opal) and HTC Touch 3G look almost alike, but belong to different categories. The first is a low-end-to-mid-range handset, while the other is a high-end smartphone with support for several high-speed data networks.
HTC Touch Viva features:
- Stripped-down TouchFLO 3D interface;
- 256MB ROM;
- Integrated GPS;
- 2Mpix camera;
- Wi-Fi connectivity
HTC Touch 3G features include:
- GSM/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz & WCDMA / HSPA: 900/2100MHz.

T-Mobile's 3G AWS network has been launched today in Las Vegas, which became the second market after NYC to get it. The carrier also confirmed its plans on expanding the 3G network to at least 20 additional markets by the end of 2008.
Apart from that, they also announced the upcoming release of the the company's first HSDPA-capable phone.

NTT DOCOMO and AT&T announced yesterday that they've copleted the extention of AT&T's 3G W-CDMA mobile network to all principal islands in the U.S. state of Hawaii, including Oahu, Hawaii, Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kauai. Thus, Hawaiian NTT DOCOMO subscribers now have access to data and voice roaming services in these areas.
The following DOCOMO handsets currently support international roaming services in the Hawaiian Islands: SH905iTV, SH906i, F906i, SO906i, N906iμ, SH906iTV, NM705i, NM706i, hTc Z and HT1100.

Get ready to drool, iPhone fans. Some lucky person from Portugal has opened the box with the new iPhone 3G. We don't know how he/she got the device, but I guess we'll find it out soon enough... Just don't get too upset, as there are only three days left to go before the official release.
Update: BGR have also managed to get their hands on the highly anticipated handset.

Some sources report that starting October 1st T-Mobile USA will launch its yet limited 3G network nationwide, namely to its top 27 markets, including Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Miami, and others.
This information is not yet confirmed, so until we get some official proof of the abovementioned, it will remain a rumor.

Hisense has recently unveiled a new 3G phone called T68, which was first seen at the HITECH 2008 Fair in China.
Besides the 3G connectivity, the phone is also compatible with the Chinese TD-SCDMA network. In rest it's a pretty simple cell phone with dual-band GSM capability, 2.4" TFT touchscreen display with handwriting recognition, multimedia player, microSD slot, 1.

FCC has approved a new mid-range Sony Ericsson phone, the G702. According to documentation it supports GSM/EDGE 850/1900 radios, and features Bluetooth connectivity, 3.2Mpix camera, M2 memory card slot, and a touchscreen display. The user manual also mentions 3G, Wi-Fi, and GPS, but these features are not listed in the FCC filings.
