What's the difference between Palm 700p (Verizon) and 700wx (Alltel) handsets anyway? I mean, why would Palm release two separate firmware upgrades for each of these, when they're the same? Anyway, as expected the company didn't give any details on what the patches actually fix, but it's always nice to know you have an up-to-date firmware running on your handset, right? Alltel will be upgrading its data network to EVDO Rev. A technology to speed up uploads. The carrier will start with 18 markets, including Charlotte, New Orleans, Phoenix and Tampa, and will be expanding from there further.
Laptop users will be the first to take advantage of the new speeds with Huawei EC228 USB and the UTStarcom UM 150 modems. The company will also allow owners of the HTC PPC6800 and HTC Touch smartphones to upgrade their devices to support EVDO Rev.

Alltel has corrected the U.S. carriers' mistake of giving a single color to their HTC Touch smartphone.
Previously available only in Grey, the Alltel Touch now comes in a Burgundy flavor - and it looks nice.
No specs have been changed (of course) and the price of $129.99 with 2-year contract also remains the same.

Alltel and HTC have issued a system update for the HTC Touch smartphone that will upgrade its EV-DO Rev. 0 radio to Rev. A, which allows for faster download and upload speeds.
