For those looking for a simple cell phone Alltel Wireless offers the new LG Swift. It is a basic clamshell with a "next-generation keypad featuring Fastap Press-to-Experience keys, which integrates six raised one-touch access Quick Keys with a traditional numeric keypad," as well as external music controls, twin speakers, Bluetooth, a 1.3Mpix camera, one-touch speakerphone and a microSD slot.

Alltel has launched the Samsung SCH-R800 Delve, a full touchscreen phone with Samsung's TouchWiz UI. It will be available in stores and online starting November 7th for $199.99 on a 2-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate.

Alltel will be offering LG’s new music slider called the Rhythm. The phone will come in either black or white, and will cost $119.99 on a 2-year contract with a $50 mail-in-rebate. Specifications of the LG Rhythm include:

Alltel has added the Motorola VE20 to its lineup. This mid-range clamshell with an external touchscreen, 2Mpix camera, and a 3.5mm headphone jack will be available on September 25th for $99.99 with contract and rebate in navy and licorice colors. You can also preorder it, if you want.

It looks like once again Alltel has decided to follow Sprint's path and get the same handset, this time the HTC Touch Pro.

No, the company didn't announce that, it's just a rumor, backed up with this photo of what appears to be an Alltel-branded Touch Pro. Word on the street has it that the said handset will be released "soon" after the Touch Diamond.

Don't ask us when.

What's the difference between Palm 700p (Verizon) and 700wx (Alltel) handsets anyway? I mean, why would Palm release two separate firmware upgrades for each of these, when they're the same? Anyway, as expected the company didn't give any details on what the patches actually fix, but it's always nice to know you have an up-to-date firmware running on your handset, right?

Alltel will be upgrading its data network to EVDO Rev. A technology to speed up uploads. The carrier will start with 18 markets, including Charlotte, New Orleans, Phoenix and Tampa, and will be expanding from there further.

Laptop users will be the first to take advantage of the new speeds with Huawei EC228 USB and the UTStarcom UM 150 modems. The company will also allow owners of the HTC PPC6800 and HTC Touch smartphones to upgrade their devices to support EVDO Rev.

Alltel has corrected the U.S. carriers' mistake of giving a single color to their HTC Touch smartphone.

Previously available only in Grey, the Alltel Touch now comes in a Burgundy flavor - and it looks nice.

No specs have been changed (of course) and the price of  $129.99 with 2-year contract also remains the same.
