Alltel announced the launch of its version of the LG VX8600 called the AX8600. The device is available in three colors- Vivid-Blue, Lime-Green and Champagne-Gold. All the phones are available for $50 after rebates and with contract. LG AX8600 features same specifications as the VX8600 and has the same electrostatic music-control keys on the front cover.

The nation's fifth-largest mobile operator Alltel has recently made an attempt to sell itself to a large US carrier such as AT&T, Verizon or Sprint Nextel. Despite that AT&T is willing to use this possibility, it still remains skeptical about the combination because of some negative issues that would take place in the future. Celltop launched by Alltel Wireless is a new widget based home screen. Using Celltop it is easy to find and show such information like weather, news, sports scores and stock quotes. Celltop comes with 10 cells built-in. But it's not all the company is intending to increase this number.
For now Celltop is available on some Alltel phones and will be shipping on all new ones later in 2007.

Alltel Corp. exposed third quarter revenues. Its customer number result showed the drop of the company's stock price by more than 6 percent in Wall Street trading. Alltel's gross customer additions for the quarter increased by 14 percent but they have had only 101,000 net new subscribers in the quarter. Of the 101,000 new subscribers, 75,000 were postpaid users. Alltel ended the quarter with more than 11 million customers.
