Since its creation, the Amazon Appstore stood apart, banned from being offered in the official store for Android apps, Google Play, until now.When Amazon recently updated its main Android app, it got a new "Apps & Games" department that duplicates the content found in the standalone Appstore app - effectively making it both unnecessary and obsolete.Naturally, because Amazon's still delivering apps outside the confines of Google Play, you need to change your device's security settings to accept downloads from unknown sources to install them.

Amazon’s rumored 3D smartphone is set to be announced tomorrow, June 18th.We’ve heard tale that Amazon’s new device will be an AT&T exclusive, and a new report from the Wall Street Journal reiterates that rumor. Amazon and AT&T already partner to provide Kindle tablets will data service, so no surprises here.The Android-based device is said to deliver a 3D UI, utilizing at least 6 normal cameras, and 4 infrared camera on the front which will track a user’s eye movements.

According to rumors, Amazon’s oft-rumored smartphone will ship with a 4.7 inch display to keep up with the current smartphone market.It looks as though Amazon was initially planning to make its upcoming smartphone with a 4.3 inch display, but later scrapped the idea after witnessing increased demand for larger size screens among consumers.The move of making the screen size larger on the “Kindle phone” is a smart one, but whether or not people actually want such a device is still up for debate.
