HTC TyTN II runs Google Android?

A member of the XDA-Dev community has managed to run Google's Android OS on the HTC TyTN II smartphone.

The proof of that you will find below. Anyway, it looks like this is not a fully functional operating system; rather it is an executable for Windows Mobile. However, if that's true, there's a possibility that Android will be compatible with other WM-based devices.

Opera Mini for Google Android

Opera Mini, the popular Java mobile browser has been successfully ported to Google Android OS.

This was done by the lead developer for Opera Mini for Android known as MicroEmulator, who used the original Opera Mini code base and a wrapper capable of translating J2ME API calls into Android API calls.

HTC's Android-powered Google Phone is Called "Dream"

HTC's Android-powered Google Phone is Called "Dream"

The upcoming HTC smartphone, based on Google's Android OS will be named "Dream".

The handset will measure about 5" long and 3" wide, and will feature a large touchscreen with a full sliding (or swiveling) QWERTY keypad underneath, and Internet navigational controls.

The release is expected in the end of the year.

Google has released a new version of the Android SDK (m5-rc14).

It comes with several new features and improvements including a new user interface, the ability to create layout animations for applications, forward and reverse geo-coding, and support for new media codecs.

Apparently, Google plans to release a new Android SDK in a couple of weeks, and according to the review at Reg Developer, the updated kit should be more functional than the previous one, and will also include a new user interface.

Google Android OS Live Photos

Here is one of the first live photos of Google's Android OS in action.

Gizmodo, the source of the photo says that despite the system is still a prototype, it runs light and fast, and that the programming is overall better than Windows Mobile 5.

We'll be able to test the complete version once the first Android-based handsets appear.
