As you see, this leaked build runs fine on the HTC hero. Officially the new UI will become available along with the release of the upcoming HTC device codenamed Espresso.

Continuing the previous post, FCC has also approved a version of Xperia X10 with support for T-Mobile USA 3G bands a couple of days prior to AT&T's model. Now that's two US carriers already. *Sigh* January can't come soon enough.

Motorola CLIQ's source code revealed some references to a new Motorola device dubbed "La Jolla" ("The Jewel" in English). It's a low-end Android-powered flip phone with a QWERTY keyboard, which means that low-on-cash texters will dig it.

The Android-based Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is also scheduled for release net month, on January 18th to be exact (that's according to UK online retailer Play.com). Prepare to spend GBP 529.99, or approximately $863 U.S. Dollars. The release will take place in February if the source is wrong.

Cellpassion has posted some info on an upcoming LG handset called GD880 (Mini). There's no image available yet, but here's what we know about it so far spec-wise:

• Dimensions (102x47.2x9.95 mm);
• 3.2" (480x854) touch-sensitive screen;
• Android OS;
• Quad-band GSM;
• Dual-band 3G;
• 5Mpix camera;
• 100MB built-in memory

Availability details are not available yet, but the phone's expected price tag is around EUR 350.

Sprint has announced via Twitter that it'll be bringing Android 2.0 to its HTC Hero and Samsung Moment in the first half of 2010.

Judging by these live action shots found by Chinese site tgbus, the new Motorola XT800 (Zeppelin) is probably the best looking Android handset to date. It is headed to China Telecom, and will feature a custom Android OS build, a 3.7" WVGA (854x480) display with 720p playback and an HDMI-out port.

Hopefully we'll see it somewhere outside of China in the near future.

An image file of the Android 2.1 build for Motorola Droid was leaked last week on Sholes.info complete with instructions on how to install. The port wasn't very accurate, so until a proper ROM is released, we suggest you to wait with the "upgrade".

Swype is the new rapid touch screen input method developed by the inventor of T9. Below you can see it in action:

The Samsung Omnia II is currently the only handset that supports it.

According to Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney, owners of HTC Droid Eris will receive an Android 2.0 (or 2.1) OS update -- with Google Maps Navigation and Sense UI -- during the Q1 of 2010.
