According to some sources, AT&T and Apple intend to launch a 8GB iPhone 3GS at the $99 price point before Christmas. Apparently this is due to the current DROID madness, which should be chilled a bit.
A while after the European release, TomTom started selling its iPhone car kit in the U.S. The kit now is available trough Apple store and online for $119.95. Note that it's only compatible with iPhone 3G and 3GS.
Rogers is rumored to be in the process of shipping iPhone 3GS 8GB flavor handsets to stores. It's currently unconfirmed, and the price remains a mystery, we're just telling you what we know. It actually could be a replacement for the $99 iPhone 3G.
It is a well known fact that the iPhone (3G)'s 2Mpix camera takes crappy shots. However, it appears to be a firmware issue, not a technical one. Here's a little comparison carried out by iPhones.ru, which clearly shows the difference between iPhone OS 3.0 and iPhone OS 2.2.1 in terms of photo quality. As you can see the camera on the iPhone isn't so bad after all.
According to Gizmodo, Apple will announce its iPhone OS 3.0 on March 17th. Unfortunately, the event where thy'll show off the new iPhone OS 3.0 firmware is invitation-only, so if you're not on the guest list, you'll most definitely miss the chance to see it live.
Hopefully, atleast this time they'll add that freaking copy/paste functionality.
According to Adobe's CEO Shantanu Narayen, the company is working on an iPhone-compatible version of Flash due to their agreement with Apple. In his turn, Apple's CEO Steve Jobs said that Flash is too much for the iPhone to handle and that Flash Lite isn't capable enough. So they're making a custom build that will run smooth on the Apple's flagship handset.
Those looking for an officially unlocked iPhone 3G will probably like this piece of news. Apparently, the handset will be soon launching unlocked in Taiwan. And while Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwanese carrier for the iPhone, claims that the device will function only on their network, don't worry, it's not true. The only thing you'll be missing when inserting a different SIM-card is Chunghwa Telecom’s Hami services.
One of the iPhone's main f**k-ups is its inability to send/receive MMS messages. But the situation is about to change for iPhone users in Sweden (and not only, apparently), as Telia seems to be working on an MMS application for the handset that should be available in the near future.
Now if they could only add that darn copy/paste functionality, some of us could die happy.
I guess Apple won't tolerate any competitive software on the iPhone. With this in mind, they've restricted the use of the Opera Mini on the handset, as it would compete directly with the Safari browser.
