According to Apple, 3rd party application developers will be able to use the original tools for creating games and apps for the iPhone. The best of them will be available for download through the new iTunes Applications Store, PC, as well as EDGE or Wi-Fi. The beta version of the SDK is already available, but it will only be supported after the firmware update 2.

Apple has released a new firmware update v1.1.4 for the iPhone. The update will allow it to run third-party apps created with the upcoming iPhone SDK, which btw is still not available. You can download the new firmware through iTunes. Just don't forget, if you're using a cracked handset, stay away from the update until the iPhone hacking community jailbreaks it.

Not very pleasant news for some readers. Unfortunately, the new iPhone SDK, of which release was scheduled on the end of February, could be delayed, as there's still no word from Apple. Moreover, according to Business Week refering to a "reliable source" the SDK will be available in 1-3 weeks.

The 16GB iPhone appeared on the Apple.com webpage. The price for the new version is $499 with a contract with AT&T. The old 8GB version still costs $399, but in the near future its stock will decrease. As for the AT&T site, they list the 16GB model in the "Business Center".

Orange France has just announced they have sold 70,000 iPhones in the first month of sales. Well, this isn't bad, but considering that in the first five days the company has sold about 40,000 handsets, the outcome indicates that sales-rates dropped by more than 70%. Don't know what to think... Anyway, in a couple Apple plans to make an official report on iPhone sales.

According to O2's CEO Matthew Key, who recently met with Steve Jobs, Apple iPhone turns out to be the best selling device in the carrier's history. He said that the company plans to sell about 200,000 units by the end of January. And that's not all, data usage has increased tremendously over the previous periods, and now O2 is experiencing solid revenues.
