3 and Research In Motion (RIM) have launched the new BlackBerry 8707g smartphone in Sweden.

The device is primarily targeted at business customers and comes with the following features:

• Qualcomm 6250 chipset;
• 2100 MHz UMTS;
• GSM/GPRS (850/900/1800/1900 MHz);
• 320 x 240 LCD display;
• QWERTY keyboard;
• 16MB of RAM/64MB of ROM;
• Bluetooth 2.

RIM published a press release on the upcoming Blackberry firmware update, which should be available in the first half of the year. So, here's what we can expect, according to the PR:

• Blackberry upgrade highlights: Editable Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents;
• Search for and retrieve email messages from their email server even if the message is no longer stored on their BlackBerry;
• View HTML and rich text email messages with original formatting preserved;
• Enhanced security.

RIM BlackBerry 8130 fans in the U.S. will be happy to hear that a custom red BlackBerry Pearl 2 is now available from Sprint.

It offers the same features and price as the standard model, so if you wanted to separate yourself from other BB users don't miss this chance.

ColorWare presents a choice of several new colors for RIM Blackberry Curve , Pearl , and 8800 handsets that will be available starting December 31, 2007.

The company used X2 Coating technology, which is basically a scratch resistant liquid plastic covering.

It protects the phone from scratches and ultra-violet rays, which can damage the color.

Here's a new RIM Blackberry concept, a phone with an angular keypad, which, according to the company, should make things easier for users.

The same design will also be used for touch-sensitive keypads of future Blackberry models. Apart from that, Blackberrys will also come with LG Shine-like scrollers.

RIM plans to launch soon the new BlackBerry 9000, a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE handset featuring a 480 x 320 resolution screen, QWERTY keyboard, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, and an updated OS.

It should be released sometime between January and April 2008.

It looks like T-Mobile is planning to release the successor to the recently launched Blackberry Pearl 8100.

The upcoming device is called 8120, and will probably be launched on February 18.

Maybe this way T-Mobile decided to get rid of the superfluous supply of 8100 devices before the release of a more advanced model.

RIM is ready to release its Blackberry 8700 in China by the end of this month.

China Mobile has already ordered 10,000 handsets from TCL Communications, the Chinese Blackberry manufacturer.

The carrier will offer the device with two available plans: for RMB 398 ($54), and for RMB 598 ($81).

RIM announced that its BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone will be available in Singapore this month.

Just to remind you the features, the device comes with a microSD/SDHC memory card slot, built-in Wi-Fi, and a 2Mpix digicam with 5x digital zoom and video capture capability (240x180 or 176x144 screen resolutions).

BlackBery has been finally launched in Russia, and will be available in Q1 2008 from MTS and Vimpelcom.

It has recently been approved by the FSB (former KGB) for a one year term. However, the process of approval was ongoing and took several years. FSB required RIM to provide the codes used to encrypt traffic and did not allow launching the BlackBerry in Russia until both sides have found a compromise.
