We know many of you have waited for this moment to come. The latest BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 has been leaked yesterday and appears to be available on most new BlackBerry's from OS 4.5 through OS 5.1. Direct download links for different models are available here.
According to this leaked rebate sheet, U.S. Cellular is planning on releasing a number of interesting handsets, among which are the high-end HTC Touch Pro2, the WM-based HTC Snap, as well as the hot BlackBerry Tour already available from Verizon and Sprint. All three should be available till November 12th. Check the image for the full list of handsets and prices.
This one is for Twitter users running a BlackBerry: TwitterBerry 0.9.1 Beta 7 is now available from Orangatame. This latest version adds a few features and bug fixes:
Added support for Zannel.com uploads. Select “Zannel” from the “Media Provider” choice on the Configure screen;
Embedded Camera is now available for OS 4.2+ for smartphones with a camera.
For those of you who hate the original colors of the BlackBerry Curve 8330, Sprint is now offering the device in a custom paint job called "Inferno". The price didn't change, of course. You'll still be paying for it $49.99 on contract after discounts.
Boy Genius Report has posted some specs of the upcoming BlackBerry 9550 Storm 2. The CDMA version of the phone supposedly comes with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g support, 3.2Mpix camera, 360 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, and BlackBerry OS 5.0.
The site also mentioned that the 3G-capable GSM version of the original Storm already exists as the 9520 and is headed to AT&T and Rogers.
In case you missed it, Rogers has released a new OS update for the BlackBerry Bold bumping the version to 4.6.0.282. The new build can be downloaded from the Rogers BlackBerry download page. As always, data backup is your friend.
Not surprisingly, Sprint announced that it will start selling the BlackBerry Tour to its customers on July 12 for $199.99 on contract after rebates. Well, there goes Verizon's "timed exclusive"...
After a long wait RIM and SK Telecom have finally announced the upcoming availability of the localized version of BlackBerry Bold in Korea. That said, the positions of local manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, and Pantech on the Korean market are very strong. We don't know whether a phone with an English QWERTY keyboard could be of use in Seoul, but options are always welcome, and since the Bold has managed to make it through, there will be others.
The upcoming release of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 on T-Mobile was already confirmed a while ago. Today the handset has been approved by the FCC, which means the launch is inevitable an is closing fast. Excited? We are.
