The new BlueAnt Z9 Bluetooth headset has won an award for innovative design at CES 2007. It is also one of the smallest headsets on the market measuring just 1.5" in length and weighing 0.35 oz. FCC has approved the new Nokia's Bluetooth GPS Module LD-4W. This is a GPS add-on for Nokia's smartphones with Bluetooth support and for the Nokia 770 phone. The company already has a GPS-enabled smartphone, the N95, but not everyone can afford it. So the add-on was an excellent solution.

Verizon Wireless and Jabra have recently introduced the new Jabra BT8010 convertible Bluetooth stereo headset at the CTIA Wireless 2007 show. The BT8010 is the first phone from Jabra that can also be used as a stereo headset by connecting a special stereo earpiece to it.

The BT8010 headset features Bluetooth 2.0, A2DP, Audio/Video Remote Cotnrol profile, a jog wheel for easy navigation, and a Multipoint connection.

A very popular and wide spread Bluetooth chip will get an upgrade later this year. This chip is embedded in over 1 billion devices. Kevin Keating, senior marketing manager for the Bluetooth SIG says that Bluetooth may be used by as little as 30 percent of those that have a device with the wireless capability. Bluetooth Version 2.1 + Enhanced Data Rate is the upgraded name and the capabilities are aimed on ease of use, improved performance, and power savings.

The Jabra BT8010 is the first headset to have the important feature of pairing a cellphone and a mp3 player. Consumers can listen to music and if someone calls it is easy to switch the function to work with the cellphone. By means of Digital Signal Processing the Jabra BT8010 offers a better audio quality.

The bluetooth device has phonebook + caller ID features for the cellphone.

According to the Bluetooth SIG there are now 1 billion devices shipments from Bluetooth with 12 million shipments weekly where there are cellular handsets topping the charts in terms of volume. Some other Bluetooth enabled devices that are in favour include stereo headsets, computers and mice/keyboards.

About next year it is going to be commercially available a High-speed Bluetooth utilizing ultra-wideband (UWB) technology.
