SEMC Blog is the source of a new rumor regarding an upcoming Sony Ericsson Cybershot phone that will supposedly have a 12.1Mpix camera. According to SEMC, the phone will be announced in Q3 2009, and released in Q4 2009. The rumor is pretty much baseless so far, but we're already familiar with several 8Mpix smartphones, so I guess it's ok to believe that a 12Mpix one is coming next.

Like all handsets from the Cyber-shot family this one features an auto-focus lens system, but despite that remains considerably thin, measuring 14.5mm in profile. The camera itself is very easy to use, thanks to shortcut function keys on the keypad and simple activation.

The Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot K790a is a much talked about phone for now. Sony announces that the phone has "real camera" features such as: Xenon flash with red eye reduction, Macro mode, Best Pic scene modes and PictBridge printing. The K790a has a 3.5M image sensor to as well. It can also be said about 64 MB internal memory, memorycard slot, FM radio with RDS and mobile blogging.
