Recently T-Mobile announced its new mobile data plan: a 200mb plan for $9.99 per month with a 2-year agreement, and an unlimited plan for $30 per month. It's known that plans will go into effect on November 14.

New BlackBerry Data Plans from Rogers Wireless

Rogers Wireless announced its new BlackBerry data plans, which include browsing, email, and strangely, no unlimited BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) option. Prices are as following:

  • $30 - 300 MB;
  • $60 - 1 GB;
  • $80 - 3 GB;
  • $100 - 6 GB.

Pretty expensive, though the includded data is sufficient for monthly usage, even with the upcoming 3G BlackBerry Bold.

"Unlimited" 5GB Data plan from Sprint

Here we go again. Following Verizon and AT&T, Sprint is the next U.S. carrier to offer 5GB of "unlimited" data plan.

Once the Terms of Service are modified on July 13, if you violate the 5GB limit or exceed 300MB of data while roaming, the company will have "the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred and to deny, terminate, modify, or suspend service".

Ericsson EDGE Evolution will triple data speeds

After 3GPP industry standardization of EDGE Evolution, Ericsson has planned the achievement of data speeds of up to 1Mbps in current GSM networks by 2009. EDGE Evolution is going to increase data speeds by up to 300 percent, thus improving latency, coverage, and spectrum efficiency. This optimization will serve as an important complement to high-speed WCDMA/HSPA networks.Ulf Ewaldsson, Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio at Ericsson, says: "Ericsson EDGE Evolution builds on 3GPP's industry standardization of agreed technology improvements and reflects Ericsson's prediction that the current trend towards EDGE-capable GSM networks and terminals is set to continue.

100Mbps downstream cellular data speeds

The speeds of EV-DO and HSDPA networks do well for their decent-speed wireless connections almost anywhere in the U.S. It became known that German researchers have modified some regular UMTS equipment, instead changed it to use MIMO (which is the current cutting-edge technology used in modern WiFi devices) in order to achieve 100Mbps downstream data speeds.

Vodafone and Tom Tom cooperate for traffic data system

Vodafone in the co work with TomTom a route-planning specialist are going to develop as they declare the world's first commercial traffic data system based on tracking thousands of mobile phones in real-time. The system works using standard signaling data sent back and forth between mobile phones and cellular base-stations to pin-point a handset's location and speed.

Hybrid  data card from Helio

Helio (MVNO) declared a new data card the Hybrid and thus becoming the first mobile virtual operator who can offer such a card. Sierra AirCard 580 represents a base off for the card. Connectivity of Helio's Hybrid card is only EV-DO Rev 0. Its software allows a connection between WiFi and the data card for Windows notebooks (those that have an in-built WiFi).

$85 monthly is a cost for unlimited data access with the Hybrid and the card is provided for free with a 2-year activation.
