HTC Edge is coming as the HTC Endeavor

It seems like the HTC Edge has undergone a codename change from the Edge to the Endeavor.It will be the company’s first quad-core Android handset powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor. It will also feature what’s been dubbed a “optically-laminated” 720p display and is expected to roll out on a global scale come early spring under the HTC Supreme retail name.

LG KE990 Viewty for China

LG presents a downgraded version of the LG KU990 Viewty for the Chinese market.

The new KE990 model offers support for EDGE data instead of 3G HSDPA, but other features seem to have remained the same.

Replacing HSDPA with EDGE will reduce the price and increase battery life.

EDGE to Become Twice Faster

EDGE to Become Twice Faster

Nokia Siemens Networks have doubled the speed of the existing EDGE network using a software-based solution to 592Kbps.

The so-called EDGE Evolution will be available in the third quarter of this year.

In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks is working on the new EGPRS 2 technology that will deliver uplink and downlink speeds of up to 1.2Mbps and 472Kbps, respectively.

AT&T's "Fine EDGE" Project

Although there were no official announcements made, AT&T is busy refining the EDGE network. Looks like the company wants to attract more subscribers by the time the long-awaited Apple iPhone launches.

Also AT&T has been adding additional T1 connections to their slowest performing towers in order to boost their speeds up to 80kbps.

Ericsson EDGE Evolution will triple data speeds

After 3GPP industry standardization of EDGE Evolution, Ericsson has planned the achievement of data speeds of up to 1Mbps in current GSM networks by 2009. EDGE Evolution is going to increase data speeds by up to 300 percent, thus improving latency, coverage, and spectrum efficiency. This optimization will serve as an important complement to high-speed WCDMA/HSPA networks.Ulf Ewaldsson, Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio at Ericsson, says: "Ericsson EDGE Evolution builds on 3GPP's industry standardization of agreed technology improvements and reflects Ericsson's prediction that the current trend towards EDGE-capable GSM networks and terminals is set to continue.
