Apple has finally announced the first European carrier for the iPhone . The O2 UK will officially launch the handset on November 9th for £269 including VAT. The following voice plans are available and will include unlimited data: - £35 - 200 mins + 200 SMS
- £45 - 600 mins + 500 SMS
- £55 - 1200 mins + 500 SMS
As we expected, no new features were added to the iPhone, and there is still no word on the possible European release of its 3G version, so Britishers will just have to be satisfied with EDGE/Wi-Fi connectivity instead.

Apple is holding a London news conference on Tuesday, where it will supposedly unveil its plans on launching the iPhone in Europe. The most likely European carriers are Spanish Telefonica's O2 UK unit, Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile and France Telecom's Orange. So far there aren’t many details about the future conference: Telefonica, France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom have maintained a strict silence about any deal, but we can expect the iPhone to appear in the European market before Christmas.

But the situation is about to change, as the company, according to reports, plans to announce the European carriers for the handset at IFA 2007 Berlin. They are: T-Mobile in Germany, Orange in France, and 02 in the UK. The possibility of enabling 3G on the iPhone still remains a question.

It was described as the handset packing "practically every feature one could imagine in a mobile device." And there is no doubt about that. Palm today announced it will market a version of its Treo smartphone in Europe through Britain's Vodafone Group Plc. in hopes of resolving technical problems with a previous model.
The latest Treo will operate on Vodafone's high-speed third generation (3G) network and be powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. The new Treo smartphone will be available first to Vodafone customers in multiple European countries, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and Netherlands, before the end of the calendar year.
