Licenses to auctions winners from FCC

Recently there was an auction from the FCC's advanced wireless services, and after it took place the commission awarded about half of the 1,087. As we know the FCC granted 550 of the 1,087 licenses won, and they total about $12.2 billion in total net high bids from the sale.

There are gonna be some info from auction winners like T-Mobile USA, which was the largest winner in the auctions as it prepares to launch its own next-generation 3G wireless network.

FCC attempts on closer of AT&T / BellSouth merger

The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) works on the closer of the proposed merger of AT&T and BellSouth. As the two companies are the joint owners of Cingular Wireless the merger will affect the wireless industry. In March after the announcement of the decision executives reported they would rebrand Cingular giving it the AT&T name.

FCC Approves Philips Xenium

FCC has approved the Philips Xenium. This device is an entry-level phone with a clean interface and a 65k color screen; it's also equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera. It is a GSM phone with the usual T9 interface for text input. There are such features in the phone as a calculator, money converter, organizer and a world clock and a couple of basic games. You can record audio up to 12 minutes in duration.

FCC approved Eten glofiish X500

As we informed you some time ago, the Taiwanese high-tech manufacturer introduced their new model Eten glofiish X500.

The glofiish X500 just appeared on the FCC pages, which means that after having the approval it can be distributed in the States. But it is approved under the brand of Quanta and not by Eten. It will probably be offered as the Pharos 600 GPS Phone in the States.

MOTOFONE F3 from Motorola is a slim, mass-seller phone on a budget for entry-level users and for developing countries. The device has the common necessary functions. The phone's features include grayscale display and battery.

There are no ideas on its carrier availability.

FCC approved Nokia N75 3G Smartphone for Cingular

FCC approved Nokia N75 3G Smartphone for Cingular

A month ago Nokia announced the N75 and now the FCC approved it. N75 a clamshell phone supports only American UMTS 3G frequencies (850 and 1900 MHz) so it is aimed for the States. FCC site display images that clearly show the Cingular logo all over the N75 as when it is opened as well as when it is closed.

FCC approved HTC Excalibur

FCC approved HTC Excalibur

The featured packed HTC Excalibur has been approved by the FCC (ID NM8EXCA). The handset is being positioned to compete with the Motorola Q, but since it's GSM the competition will be limited until Motorola introduces new variants of the Q.

Features of the HTC Excalibur include:

  • Quadband GSM
  • QVGA screen
  • WiFi/Bluetooth
  • Windows Mobile Smartphone OS
  • Unique touch-sensitive scroll pad on side

No carrier deals for the Excalibur have been announced, but there have been rumors pointing to both Cingular and T-Mobile.
