Looks like Fido will soon be launching the old Samsung Gravity. Reportedly, it will be released on March 16th at a price of $25 on a 2-year contract. However, keep in mind that while it's likely, the info is not official, yet. I also wonder what the phone's worth without contact.

Two Canadian carriers Rogers and Fido have each started offering an entry-level handset to their customers.

Rogers got the LG Pop - a solar powered handset with a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen and a 3Mpix camera - which is now available for CAD $19.99 (about $19) on 3-year contract or CAD $174.99 ($166) commitment-free.

Fido offers the GreenHeart-branded Sony Ericsson Naite - a "green" low-end cell phone with a 2Mpix camera, triband 3G support and integrated FM radio - which costs just $25 on a 2-year deal.

Fido has finally released its first BlackBerry phone in years, namely the Curve 8520. The handset is available for $50 with a 3-year voice and data contract or for $400 without commitments. A great option for those looking for an affordable smartphone.

Fido has recently released the new Nokia 1661, a basic handset with features like a 1.8" display, FM radio, MP3 player, and some standard apps (calendar, contacts, calculator). It is now available for free on a 2-year contract, or you can pick it up outright for only $55. If you're looking for an extra 'loseable' cell phone, this is the one you need.

Fido is all set to release the eco friendly Motorola Renew, the one that is made from recycled water bottles. The phone will be available for free on a 2-year contract, or $65 if you choose the prepaid option.

If you're a Fido customer and wanted to get a iPhone 3G 16GB from said carrier, you'll have to do it quickly, as Fido will be dropping the device from its lineup. It is currently available for $299 on a 3-year contract.

Note that the 8GB version will still be available.

Just an update for those interested: as expected, Fido has released LG Neon in Canada. It will cost you $50 on a 2-year contract, or $175 outright. The same offering from Rogers costs $200.

LG Neon is surely a great choice for those who like instant messaging. Starting this week it will be available to Fido subscribers in Canada. Here's a quote from the recent press release regarding the LG Canadian Texting Championships: "LG Neon, which is a slider model that features a full QWERTY keypad and easy touch screen for dialing (from Rogers Wireless and coming to Fido this week)".

Reportedly, Fido will be releasing the BlackBerry 8100 in Canada on February 4th. The prices are:

• $400 on a month-to-month plan;
• $350 with a 2-year contract;
• $25 for a 3-year contract with data

According to different sources, Fido will soon start offering Blackberry handsets to choose for its customers in Canada, starting with 8100 Pearl model. While this is not official yet, such a move would be a large step in the right direction for Fido.
