Today's a lucky day for Motorola Q9h owners, as the company has officially released a Windows Mobile 6.1 update for the handset. It is easy to install, and includes some new features and improves the device's overall performance.

Palm 700p and 700wx Firmware Update for Verizon and Alltel

What's the difference between Palm 700p (Verizon) and 700wx (Alltel) handsets anyway? I mean, why would Palm release two separate firmware upgrades for each of these, when they're the same? Anyway, as expected the company didn't give any details on what the patches actually fix, but it's always nice to know you have an up-to-date firmware running on your handset, right?

There's a new firmware update available over the air for North American Nokia N78 users. Just enter *#0000# while on the standby screen and then press 'check for updates'.

According to the first user comments, the Naviwheel became more sensitive and the right softkey now works all the time.

The iPhone Dev Team has released their Pwnage Tool 2.0.2 for the new iPhone firmware version 2.0.1. As expected it only jailbreaks the device.

Developers however advice not to update to the latest firmware build if you plan to unlock your handset with the future Pwnage Tool.

HTC's Firmware Updates Now Available for All

Be informed, that starting today all those who own an original unlocked (not carrier-branded) HTC handset or a UMPC can visit the support section of the respective device and download a new ROM update for it. Previously this was only available to HTC's e-Club members, who in their turn still have exclusive access to other downloadable goodies for their handsets.

iPhone Firmware 2.0.1 has issues

As expected, the new iPhone firmware 2.0.1 that became available today through iTunes disables the PwnageTool 2.0, which means you won't be able to use all of your jailbroken apps. In addition, there are reports saying that even carrier-unlocked handsets have issues with the new firmware. Apple has updated the iPhone 3G baseband, which means that by moving to the new version you risk to make your handset un-unlockable in the future.

Sprint has released the first firmware update for the Samsung Instinct. The new version BF30 is said to include various bug fixes, though no specific details were given on what exactly it fixes.

Apple launched a beta of iphone (3G) firmware 2.1 for developers that will probably offer new GPS features, like turn-by-turn directions, and the copy/paste functionality that every iPhone user has been begging for.

Though there was still a shortage of the iPhone in the US a while ago, it seems that stores have been updated in the last hour, so there are available stocks.

Official Windows Mobile 6.1 Update for Sprint Touch

HTC and Sprint have finally issued an official Windows Mobile 6.1 update for the Sprint Touch. It's nice to have an official build, though unofficial versions of this firmware have been available for quite a while now.

Just to remind you, the Windows Mobile 6.1 adds support for EV-DO Rev. A, an OEM version of Opera, enhances GPS functionality, and more.
