HTC Touch Cruise to Get Google Android Port

Why do we need the Dream, when other HTC handsets, like Touch Diamond and Touch Pro are perfectly compatible with Google Android OS?

The latest model to get the Android port is the HTC Touch Cruise, also known as the Polaris.

Of course, the system is not so stable and functional as Windows Mobile and still needs to be worked on, but it's a start, and a good sign for those who own a handset capable of running Android.

Google Android Phones Delayed Till Q4 2008

We don't know what to think... Many sources now indicate that we won't see Google Android based handsets till the fourth quarter. However, originally it was implied that the first phones will be available in 2H 2008, but when exactly was not mentioned. Knowing this, all we can say for sure is that the first Android-based HTC smartphones will be available from T-Mobile sometime this year.

Palm to Offer Unlocked Centro for $299

Palm announced it will start producing the unlocked version of its Centro smartphone. The device will cost $299 and will sport the same characteristics as the quad-band GSM/EDGE version from AT&T. It can be purchased directly from the company's website.

In addition, Palm also announced that Google will be offering its Maps for Mobile with My Location service to Centro owners.

Google AdSense Mobile Now in Canada

Google AdSense Mobile, which was launched back in September 2007, is now available in Canada.

Now those who own a mobile website can add Google ad links to their site and hope someone will click on them.

Thus, currently AdSense Mobile is available in total of 14 markets, which include US, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Russia, Netherlands, Australia, India, China, Japan and Canada.

Opera Mini for Google Android

Opera Mini for Google Android

Opera Mini, the popular Java mobile browser has been successfully ported to Google Android OS.

This was done by the lead developer for Opera Mini for Android known as MicroEmulator, who used the original Opera Mini code base and a wrapper capable of translating J2ME API calls into Android API calls.

HTC's Android-powered Google Phone is Called "Dream"

HTC's Android-powered Google Phone is Called "Dream"

The upcoming HTC smartphone, based on Google's Android OS will be named "Dream".

The handset will measure about 5" long and 3" wide, and will feature a large touchscreen with a full sliding (or swiveling) QWERTY keypad underneath, and Internet navigational controls.

The release is expected in the end of the year.

Google Search Client for S60 Handsets

Google came up with a new free search application for S60 devices.

After you install it, the app creates a shortcut to a Google search box on the home screen. Just type in your query, and the client will automatically connect to the Internet and display the search results.

The new application is now available for download.
