Some details on the upcoming and long-awaited Google phone have been recently revealed by GigaOm.

Gphone is a Linux-based handset with full Java support. It will have a familiar Java UI, a multifunctional Java web browser, similar to those on the iPhone and Symbian devices, and be able to run all kinds of Java applications.

According to rumors the much awaited Google phone, or Gphone, will be launched sometime in the coming weeks. The company is now negotiating with India's leading mobile phone carriers Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Bharat Sanchar Nigam. It looks like Google plans to launch the handset simultaneously in the U.S. and Europe. For that occasion the company has prepared around $8 billion.

Google is supposedly working on its own cell phone that will probably reach markets within a year. The device is targeted at U.S. and European cellular operators. Today American service provider Sprint offers handsets bundled with Google's services and applications, and AT&T and Verizon Wireless are yet to follow, with the first already offering Google as a Web search option.

Sprint and Google are working together on a new mobile Internet portal, which uses WiMax wireless technology to offer Web search and social networking. Sprint network bandwidth, location detection and presence capabilities will be matched with Google's popular communications suite - Google Apps - that includes Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Talk services.

LG announced the LG-JU850 mobile phone, which should be available later this year. This cool 3G slider looks very similar to LG Chocolate and will feature one-click access to several Google services, including Google Search, Google Mail and Google Maps.

AT&T has officially announced that the iPhone will have several applications from Google, besides those apps we already know to be included in the device. These extras may include Google Maps, Google News, Google Reader (RSS), mobile Blogger, and Google Calendar, but this info is not yet been confirmed.

Google Calendar service is now available from your Web-capable mobile phone. Users can see appoints complete with date, time, location and description. One can not change or delete existing appointments, but can add new ones and check previous and forthcoming events.

But the option to change or delete existing appointments is missing.

There is not enough info on this one yet, but one thing is for sure: it is a really cool-looking handset judging by the pics. Only these picturess are nothing more than a supposition of what this concept Google device could actually look like.

Having context-sensitive softkeys that can change up depending on the current application or even for notification of incoming messages, calls and so on is a really great idea.

LG Electronics and Google announced about teamwork in order to pre-install Google's services on LG mobile phones.  All over the world mobile users will have the possibility to search for information, find locations, update blogs and manage email on the move.

 

Some LG handsets, with pre-installed Google products and services will be shipped in North America, Europe and Asia in the second quarter 2007.

The coming Google phone will be probably called as the Switch. According to some gossip the Google phone will be built with help from Samsung and feature extremely tight Google integration. The probable specifications could be - 3G data, WiFi, and a 2 megapixel camera, with the integrated a QWERTY keypad.
