GPS manufacturer Garmin has just unveiled the nuvifone, their brand new PND with 3G cell phone functionality (or vise versa). It has a large touch-screen for input and is packed with Google services, such as Local Search, Gmail and Panaramio. In addition, it offers two cool GPS-based features: “Where am I?”, which helps users orient in space, and the so called ”Dude, where’s my car?” - tells drivers where they’ve parked their vehicles.

SANYO has presented at CES their new "ultra-rugged" (as they call it) GPS-enabled cell phone, named SCP-7050. The handset is fully "compliant with military standard 810F for dust, shock, and vibration" and is a great companion for those working in mobile field operations. Besides autonomous GPS the phone also supports Java MVM, which allows to run several Java applications at a time.

Asus has officially announced the new Asus P550 PDA targeted at business professionals. It is a 3G WCDMA handset featuring a large 3.5" touch-sensitive display, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and full GPS functionality + TMC receiver. No word on pricing and availability for now.

Helio Mysto is the latest addition the company's phone lineup. It is a slider handset equipped with a 2Mpix camera, integrated GPS receiver, Bluetooth, music player and a microSD slot. The phone will be available only in Helio’s retail stores for $149 starting December 26, 2007. The worldwide release is scheduled on January 2008.

The partfoundry has announced its new GPS module for the iPhone. This small device is called locoGPS and will be available in February 2008 for $89. This will give enough time for third-party developers to create navigational software for the module, using the official Apple iPhone SDK.

Another Sony Ericsson P5i photo has leaked in the Web. It is a Symbian 9.1-based slider phone with a 2.8" VGA display, 5Mpix CyberShot camera, as well as Wi-Fi, GPS, 160MB of on-board memory, M2/microSD slots, all operating on a 360MHz CPU. The official announcement will be made in February at the Mobile World Congress.

Here's a fresh rumor for you. Apparently, TomTom has developed an add-on GPS receiver for the Apple iPhone. The thing you see on the picture here is obviously the GPS module we're talking about, as on the phone's screen we clearly see GPS navigation prompts. As you've probably heard, the upcoming iPhone SDK that should appear in February, is already available to some developers, not excluding TomTom, so, it is very possible that the manufacturer came up with this accessory as an alternative to the official GPS-enabled iPhone, which is still not ready.
