New Motorola Z8m with 7.2Mbps HSDPA Support

Motorola decided to revive its unpopular UIQ-based Z8 slider by updating it with 7.2Mbps HSDPA support.

The new Z8m model will be available exclusively through SK Telecom in Korea for 484,400 won or approximately $500.

Besides the upgraded HSDPA, this version offers nothing new, and still features a 2.2" QVGA screen, 2Mpix camera with 5x digital zoom, 4GB of expandable memory, Bluetooth and USB 2.

Sony Ericsson G502 Unveiled

Check out the Sony Ericsson G502, the company's newly announced UIQ-based phone.

Don't expect anything special, though. According to some sources will be released on the 24th and will sport a QVGA display, 2Mpix camera, HSDPA support, Memory Stick M2-expandable storage, and the NetFront browser.

Nokia 5320 and 5220 XpressMusic Phones Unveiled

Nokia introduced two new members of the XpressMusic line-up.

  • The first is the HSDPA-enabled 5320 model, which features dedicated music and N-Gage gaming keys, a 3.5-mm headphone jack, up to 24-hours of play time, up to 8GB of expandable storage, and a "Say and Play" voice controlled playlist. It costs €220 (or $351).
  • The second one is the cheaper 5220 model.

Samsung Soul Launched in Europe

As promised back in February, Samsung announced the European version of its flagship U900 Soul phone.

The first markets to get it are France, the UK, and Germany, followed by the rest of Europe. The stateside release is still a question, as the phone doesn't support U.S. bands.

One can get the Soul for €400 (~$632). Here are some of its key features:

Rogers Wireless to Launch LG Vu in Canada

LG Vu is no longer an AT&T exclusive!

Canadian Rogers Wireless announced its plans to launch the handset in Canada in early May. The phone will feature HSDPA connectivity and will support various Rogers' services including Video on request, Radio on request, mobile TV and Rogers Music Store.

3G iPhone coming in June?

According to some sources, the release of the 3G iPhone is two months away, as the handset will be presented at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in June.

Apparently they will introduce three versions with different capacities, including 8GB ($399), 16GB ($499) and possibly a 32GB ($599) model, though this is yet to be confirmed.

In addition, the new iPhone will be 2.

Samsung SGH-i788 - the U.S. version of the i780

FCC has recently revealed the new Samsung SGH-i788, and apparently it is the U.S. version of the existing i780 model.

It is quite possible that the new model won't feature all the same specs as its older brother (HSDPA, GPS or Wi-Fi may be lacking on this one), but it will surely keep the touchscreen, and will most likely run the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.

AT&T's 3G HSPA Network to be Complete by 2009

According to Hank Kafka, vice president of network architecture for AT&T Mobility, the company plans to upgrade its entire 3G network to HSPA (7.2Mbps) by the end of 2008.

AT&T had 255 markets covered by HSDPA in the end of 2007, and expects to have 350 major metropolitan markets running HSPA before the beginning of 2009.
