Plastic HTC One M8 variant in works

According to reports coming out of China, HTC may be working on a plastic version of the All New One (M8).This variant will have almost identical specs with the only difference in the camera technology.Instead of boasting two Ultrapixel cameras, this model will have a more standard 13-megapixel shooter on the back. Rest of the specs are apparently the same and include the potent Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, 5-inch full HD screen, 4G LTE connectivity support and so on.

Finally, T-Mobile now has the HTC One M8 in stock at retail stores around the U.S. The HTC One M8 has been available from AT&T, Sprint and Verizon since right after the device’s March 15th unveiling, but has been absent from the magenta carrier until today.The HTC One M8 will run you a total of $636. The HTC One M8 is now available to purchase from AT&T and Sprint retail stores, and will be landing in T-Mobile stores tomorrow.The M8, which was released on March 25th has been available from AT&T and Sprint, but had to be purchased online. Verizon has had the HTC One M8 in stores from the get go, landing in Big Red’s retail locations just hours after the March 25th launch.T-Mobile has been the only major U.

EVleaks are showing us the upcoming HTC M8 Ace, though unfortunately we don’t get to see this handset in a “regular” photo.Actually, the cutout surrounding the front-facing camera seems much narrower than on the One M8 has, and there’s also an odd texture expanding all across the handset’s top and bottom.Other than that, this phone seems identical to the All New HTC One.

Last year’s HTC One had its real gold version and the new model (M8) will follow suit. The Taiwanese company will limit the gold One’s availability to the Middle East, where we assume most of the customers are coming anyway.We have no idea how much HTC will ask for the gold One, but chances are it’s not the price that makes or breaks purchase of phones like these. In any case, if you do live in the United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia, you should be able to call HTC and ask them to buy the gold version of their flagship device.

HTC will soon start rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the original HTC Butterfly. The firmware is in development as we speak and should be out in the next few weeks, or months.This release, unfortunately, doesn’t include the brand-new Sense 6.0 but you still get a more-than-decent Sense 5.5 which, among other things, includes the ability to better manage BlinkFeed, or remove it from the homescreen.

According to Android Central’s forums, Android 4.4.2 is rolling out OTA to HTC One Max devices bearing the Sprint emblem.The software version for the update is 2.09.651.1, and touts the plethora of KitKat features as well as some security improvements, cloud printing and bluetooth profiles.The update is reportedly 344MB in size, so make sure you’ve got plenty of data on your plan or just connect your big ol’ One Max to WiFi before downloading.
