A new HTC smartphone was recently spotted at the FCC website. The device is called the Neon and judging by the image it appears to be yet another variant of the HTC Touch. In addition, we heard that this handset will soon be launched in Japan through NTT DoCoMo, but this information is yet unconfirmed.

According to HTC, they have sold 1 million Touch smartphones in just 5 months, in the period starting from June and till the end of October 2007. In addition, the company expects to sell between 1.5-1.8 million Touch handsets before the end of 2007. The HTC Touch lineup includes the Touch, Touch Dual and the new Touch Cruise.

At a recent meeting with analysts from foreign investment firms, the HTC CEO Peter Chou announced the company's plans for the next year. First of all, they are going to release a couple of mobile devices running on the new Android OS from Google. In addition to that, HTC plans to improve its TouchFLO technology, stop using 3G chips from Qualcomm, and launch several WiMAX/TD-WCDMA handsets by the end of 2008 or in early 2009.

HTC Iris is a new yet unannounced smartphone that has been recently approved by the FCC. It is a CDMA EV-DO WM6-based handset similar in design to the Palm Treo 500v or Android prototype. The device also supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and comes with a landscape QVGA screen and QWERTY keyboard, 2Mpix camera, a microSD card slot, and very large battery.

The new HTC Touch Cruise is the company's third touch-screen smartphone since the first Touch has been released. Also known as the HTC Polaris, the device runs on Windows Mobile 6 OS, supports 3G HSDPA network, and features the TouchFLO finger-based interface, navigation wheel, extra shortcut buttons to easily access important features, integrated GPS receiver from TomTom, and a dual camera, including a 3Mpix cam on the back and a front VGA cam for video conversations.

According to HTC, they will soon release an enhanced version of their Touch smartphone in Hong Kong. The device is manufactured by HTC and comes with a SureType keypad, easy to use UI, and a D-pad, also useable as a scroll wheel for navigation through the menus.
