HTC and Sprint have finally issued an official Windows Mobile 6.1 update for the Sprint Touch. It's nice to have an official build, though unofficial versions of this firmware have been available for quite a while now. Just to remind you, the Windows Mobile 6.1 adds support for EV-DO Rev. Xda-developers have somehow managed to enable the supposedly lacking GSM 850MHz spectrum on the HTC Touch Diamond smartphone. The modified ROM is available at their site.

However, though now you'll be able to use the phone anywhere in the U.S., you will still have enjoy the "lightning fast" speed of the EDGE data network, as 3G is not supported on this device.

XPERIA X1/TyTN II Hybrid from China

XPERIA X1/TyTN II Hybrid from China

This is a new Chinese clone of the Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1. It's pretty cool, I must say, and I even wonder why they didn't make it earlier.

Actually, the original X1 was not cloned completely: it was slightly modified to offer a tilting display, similar to the one on the HTC TyTN II. Other features include a 5Mpix camera, 3", 16 million color touchscreen, and a built-in TV tuner.

FCC has unveiled the new HTC NEON400. It has a Touch Dual form-factor, i.e. the original Touch with a slider keyboard, and apparently supports CDMA 850 / 1900 bands. This means it could very well be launched on Sprint, Verizon, and Alltel networks - we'll just have to wait before it is officially announced by someone other than FCC.
