Finally, the iPhone 3G can now be unlocked/jailbroken in a Windows environment with a one-click tool called winpwn 2.0. All willing can download it here, but be warned, you do this at your own risk of completely bricking the device!

The Pwnage Tool 2.0 announed for the iPhone 3G is still not fully ready. The iPhone Dev Team say it only activates and jailbreaks the device, but doesn't unlock it to work on all carriers.
It's ok to wait, as long as we know we'll get a 100% working version instead of some half-baked one. Anyway, the existing build is still able to unlock the first-generation iPhones with firmware version 2.

iPhone Dev Team has posted a video on their blog yesterday showing off their new PwnageTool 2.0 and what they claim to be the “world’s first jailbroken iPhone 3G”. Well, it didn't take them too long, and hopefully they'll release the tool as soon as possible. I say It's just a matter of days or less.

iPhone 3G is obviously doing really well.

Apple reports they have sold one million handsets just this weekend. Last time it took them a whole 74 days to reach 1M with the iPhone classic. However, that was possible due to the fact that the new iPhone was released simultaneously in 21 countries, and counting...

Get ready to drool, iPhone fans. Some lucky person from Portugal has opened the box with the new iPhone 3G. We don't know how he/she got the device, but I guess we'll find it out soon enough... Just don't get too upset, as there are only three days left to go before the official release.

Update: BGR have also managed to get their hands on the highly anticipated handset.

Apple iPhone owners will be receiving the iPhone 2.0 firmware in early July when the 3G version of the device ships.

The update will be available for free for existing iPhone users, but those owning an iPod Touch will have to pay $9.95 to get it.

Along with the iPhone 3G Apple has announced the forthcoming availability of the 2.0 firmware update.

The update will be available in the beginning of July charge free, and will feature an enhanced calculator with scientific mode, bulk email move/delete, parental controls, contact search, and the ability to save e-mail photo attachments in the iPhone's photo gallery application.
