SHAPE Services brings Skype to Apple’s iPhone. It is basically a Safari web application which allows users to access Skype from the handset and is fully compatible with the iPhone's touch-screen.

As many of you have already noticed, iPhone doesn't have an eBook reader, which is quite necessary and usefull for some people. To make things right, a third party group of programmers have released an unauthorized iPhone application for reading eBooks.

It supports text and HTML files stored in your Media / EBooks folder, and can enter subdirectories.

iPhone users that mostly work with pictures on their device have recently noticed a Web Gallery that suddenly appeared from nowhere. It doesn't seem to be a firmware update, because the latest version (1.0.1) released last week didn't contain this feature.

Is it a surprise from Apple or a bug?

It is officially confirmed that hackers in Europe have unlocked the iPhone. The device is now capable of making/receiving calls as well as SMS messages. To hack the handset hacker used only a SIM reader/writer and a blank SIM card.

The patch is called Total Unlock, and has been tested in the Orange UK network.

During the month of August all iPhone users will be able to enjoy free wireless Internet access in 13 North American airports. This is a limited-time offer from Boingo Wireless, a global Wi-Fi Internet provider, owning the largest Wi-Fi network in the world, which comprises more than 100,000 hotspots in airports, hotels, cafes and other public places.

A new web-based version of PopCap's game Bejeweled is now available for free or all iPhone users. To play the game just log on to http://www.popcap.com via the iPhone's Safari Web browser.

This iPhone-specific version takes advantage of Web 2.0 capabilities of Safari and wireless capabilities of the iPhone, and makes a good use of the handset's touch-screen and input controls.

Apple iPhone may not be the hit we expected it to be after all. AT&T affirms that it has activated only 146,000 iPhones after the first two days of sales, though analysts predicted 500,000 to 1 million devices to be sold during the given period of time. Now analysts agree that the demand for the iPhone is falling.

How can this be?

Those relatively poor sales can be explained simply: many users had activation problems and couldn't register the device for a couple of days, so the actual number of iPhones sold may be much higher.

The upcoming Samsung P520 touch-screen mobile phone claims to become Samsung's iPhone killer. Well, judging by its specs, it looks more like a clone rather then killer.
