When talking about the new iPhone 3G S we forgot to mention that the iPhone OS 3.0 will be available to all iPhone (any) users starting June 17th. Just to let you know.

You all have probably expected this: Apple has unveiled a new iPhone at WWDC show today. The new iPhone 3G S ("s" stands for speed) looks almost exactly like the 3G model, but offers support for faster 7.2Mbps HSDPA networks. It comes in a new "fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating", and has the followin features, many of which are new:

• 7.2Mbps HSDPA support;
• 16GB/32GB of storage;
• 3Mpix camera with tap-to-autofocus and auto white balance;
• 30fps VGA video recording with editing features;
• Built-in compass;
• Nike+ support;
• 5 hours of 3G talk time;
• 9 hours of Wi-Fi internet use

Holding home button now enables a new voice control interface that allows you do anything you wand from making calls to controling iTunes.

It's time for another next-gen iPhone rumor. According to some sources, the new handset will be launched on July 17 at $199 and $299 pice points depending on the phone's storage capacity, which has been doubled btw. Other rumores specsinclude:

• 32GB and 16GB storage;
• 3.2Mpix camera;
• Video-recording and editing capabilities;
• Ability to send a picture & video via MMS;
• Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device;
• OLED screen;
• 1.

Some new information has surfaced about the upcoming "next-gen" iPhone model. Reportedly, it will have a number of "MB717LL 9", and will have the following upgrades:

• 32GB of storage space;
• 600MHz processor;
• 256MB of RAM;
• Integrated FM radio;
• 3.2Mpix camera with autofocus;
• Digital compass

It is a well known fact that the iPhone (3G)'s 2Mpix camera takes crappy shots. However, it appears to be a firmware issue, not a technical one. Here's a little comparison carried out by iPhones.ru, which clearly shows the difference between iPhone OS 3.0 and iPhone OS 2.2.1 in terms of photo quality. As you can see the camera on the iPhone isn't so bad after all.

Apple iPhone 3.0 beta 4 SDK is now available for developers. The iTunes 8.2 is included in the latest build. Other features of the new firmware will include Cut, Copy & Paste functionality, MMS support, Stereo A2DP Bluetooth and Push notifications to all iPhone users. The public release is expected in Q3 2009.

In case you didn't know, AT&T is once again offering refurbished 16GB iPhone 3Gs for just $150 a piece with a 2-year contract.

The offer is available for new customers, and is limited to one purchase per household.
