Disney announced it will re-enter the mobile market this spring in Japan. They will use Softbank’s cellular network to provide services and will sell handsets in their existing 2,464 stores. In the mean time the company continues shutting down the Disney Mobile service in the U.

NEC has officially launched its new N905iµ TV-enabled cell phone. Not much is known about the device yet, but we're positive it will be popular among mobile TV viewers. The phone will become available on November 26 in Japan.<

The Japanese Defense Ministry made a suggestion on thursday regarding the requirement of GPS-enabled cell phones for its staff, in particular senior bureaucrats and senior Self-Defense Forces officers, so that they could be immidiately located when necessary. As expected, bureaucrats didn't like the idea.

NTT DoCoMo Japan will soon start offering the new LG L704i Chocolate. The phone comes in three standard colors, black, white and red, and will feature HSDPA connectivity, 2.2" QVGA display, 2Mpix camera and a VGA camera for video conversations. I doubt that the new Chocolate will be popular, since NTT DoCoMo usually offers more advanced handsets then this one.

Hitachi has launched a very stylish new cell phone in Japan. Called W53H, the handset is 14.2mm thin and comes with a 1Seg receiver, 2.8" OLED QVGA display, a 2Mpix camera, and an integrated GPS navigator. Although the phone is quite large, it has a head-spinning design and very decent specifications.

Sharp has introduced its new PDA phone, the so called Advanced/W-Zero3. The handset, when closed, looks like an ordinary candy bar cell phone, but when you open it, it reveals a QWERTY keyboard and a large 3" WVGA (800x480) screen. Other features include Windows Mobile 6 OS, Wi-Fi connectivity, Web browser, Microsoft Office Mobile and the ability to read business cards via the in-built 1.

- Bluetooth connectivity
- Dual camera: photo/video and 3G
No word on pricing and the possible availability in the U.

Fujitsu has made an addition to its 905i series of mobile phones. The device you see on the picture is the latest Fujitsu F905i, which features a large 3.2" WVGA+ (480 x 862) 16M color display, 3.2Mpix photo/video camera, multitasking capability, 1Seg DMB-T support, and other stuff. This phone will be available only in Japan.

Qualcomm wants to launch MediaFLO in Japan as soon as 2008. MediaFLO is a multi-cast mobile TV standard that offers 20 channels of QVGA video. While mobile TV is already a reality in Japan, Qualcomm thinks the added features of MediaFLO will adapt nicely to the market. Many phones in Japan can tap into terrestrial digital TV signals, but MediaFLO will bring more DVR like functionality.
Since April Japanese broadcasters have been broadcasting mobile specific content, but there is no way to record the video.
