The FCC has just approved the GSM version of the upcoming LG BL40. It will only support GSM 850 / 1900 alone, which means there will be no US 3G support on that model. The first carrier to offer the device will be Verizon, so there's no doubt we'll see a CDMA version of it, but what if I wanted to get an unlocked GSM handset with HSDPA?

The LG LX290 is a new basic cell phone for Sprint, which offers "compact and sleek productivity" at a laughable price of $29.99 on contract after rebates. Yes, for that amount you'll get AGPS support, as well as other features, such as:

As you can see, it comes with a crimson slide-out keypad, light-up nav buttons, a 240 x 320 screen, and the same 5Mpix camera. Overall, it's a fine addition to the Chocolate lineup.
