There have been a couple of reports about exploding Nokia handsets in West Bengal lately.

First was the explosion of Nokia 2100 using a BL-D 3 battery owned by Kishori Saha from Kolkata. The phone was put on charge and suddenly exploded, causing minor injuries to five-month pregnant Kishori.

Matsushita will cover the direct costs related to the product advisory on Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries.

"The safety of our customers and the reliability and quality of our products are our top priorities," said Robert Andersson, head of Nokia Customer and Market Operations. "We are pleased with the good cooperation between Nokia and Matsushita.
