According to Samsung Electronics they are shipping some 8 GB memory chip (the highest density embedded flash memory) to major mobile electronics manufacturers. Samsung's high-density moviNAND memory is made of four 50-nanometer, 16 Gigabit NAND flash memories, a high-speed MultiMediaCard (MMC) controller and associated firmware. It has the ability to store up to 2,000 songs, a lot of maps data for global positioning system (GPS), as well it permits virtually unlimited memory expansion.

Samsung reporting that it has developed a prototype fusion memory chip. This device can significantly increase the data processing speed between processors in mobile applications. Samsung's new fusion solution OneDRAM is going to be specified in the design of handsets, game consoles and in other digital applications, especially those that use 3-dimensional graphics.

There is some news from Sony that they presented a new memory card format that is capable of holding up to 32 GB of data. This card - The Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo - is a new version of the Pro Duo-sized memory card which is capable of read write speeds up to 60 MB / sec and can be made in sizes as large as 32 GB.

The PRO-HG cards don't require any new hardware or software on devices.

Samsung today announced that it has begun mass producing an 8 GB NAND flash memory device, providing a much larger and more affordable storage density for consumer and mobile applications such as mobile phones, MP3 players and gaming consoles.

The newest technology offers 25 percent higher production efficiencies over the previous 70 nm technology and also follows the introduction of 80-nm technology for DDR2 DRAM chips in March 2005, it said.
