Samsung Brings Brighter Images to Mobile Devices

Samsung announced today the development of an intelligent mobile display driver IC (DDI), which enables the displays on handheld devices to deliver clearer images in broad daylight.

Until now, mobile DDIs have been designed simply to drive the LCD panels mounted on mobile devices. Now, Samsung has developed an intelligent version that will reduce display power consumption and improve image quality on mobile displays.

Nokia unveils 3 new mobile phones for the fashion-conscious

Nokia today announced the next generation of both its 8800 and L'amour lines. These phones have evolved to pair high fashion styling with upgraded features. The 8800 has been updated with a slightly curvier form and a better camera, while the L'amour line has been updated with a new phone and new colors - a more masculine bronze and black design and a more feminine pink one.

Yahoo! Mobile Service to be on Windows Smartphones

Yahoo! said its mobile services is now available for download on phones that use Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. Starting today the millions of consumers around the world with Windows Mobile-powered phones, such as the Motorola Q, can use Yahoo! Go for Mobile for the first time.

Yahoo! Go for Mobile, which first launched earlier this year, is an integrated suite of Yahoo!'s leading services including Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Search and Yahoo! Photos that gives consumers quick access to their personalized Internet content on their mobile phone.

Samsung to Demonstrate 4G Mobile Technology

Samsung announced its plan to demonstrate 4th Generation (4G) mobile technology at the annual Samsung 4G Forum in Jeju Island, Korea for the first time in the world.

Demonstration will take place at the specially designed bus in mobile circumstances reaching 100 Mbps data transmission as well as at the display area inside forum venue to show speeds of 1 Gbps of data transmission.

Second quarter 2006 mobile handset marketshare

While this information was made available previously through individual quarterly statements, iSuppli has put all the sales data and market share figures into one place.

The big winners are Motorola and Sony Ericsson, both were able to outpace competitors' growth. Samsung saw the biggest dip in unit sales, but didn't drop a ranking in marketshare (unlike LG).
