Motorola has confirmed it will be laying off about 4,000 of its workers, which isn't much of a surprise, considering the current financial crisis and all the problems that Motorola is facing at the moment.
Let's just hope they won't give up the idea of focusing on Google’s Android platform, as a couple of good Android-based handsets could really save the company.

Motorola has launched its new recyclable W233 Renew that we've seen recenty, and the MOTOSURF A3100, which is a Windows Mobile-powerwed 3G smartphone. It should arrive this quarter in multiple markets.
Here's what the A3100 features:
- 2.8" QVGA screen comes with touch support;
- 3G support;
- Wi-Fi support;
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE/GPRS;
- 12/12 WCDMA;
- Tri-band HSDPA 7.

The new Motorola VE465 clamshell has been spotted at FCC site today, coming in two versions: dual-band and tri-band CDMA, the latter of which includes 1700MHz AWS spectrum, supported by Cricket or MetroPCS. Judging by the the photo, the phone has dual displays, external music keys, external speakerphone, Bluetooth, and a camera (Mpix unknown).
Neither Cricket, MetroPCS, nor Motorola have announced this handset yet.

Motorola has presented 3 new phones that will be released over the next few months via different carriers. And now each model in order:
Motorola W233: a low-end cell phone made of recycled weter bottles. Features include include dual-band 850/1900 GSM/EDGE, 9-hours of talk time, CrystalTalk, microSD card slot and some basic messaging features.
Surf A3100: a replacement for the older Ming; will be available in Q1 in select Asian markets.

It looks like Motorola is working on its next low-end clamshell phone called W530. Apparently, the device is bound for the Chinese market, and will have the following key features:
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE;
- 220×176 internal screen;
- 1.3Mpix camera;
- FM radio;
- 20MB of internal memory;
- microSD memory card slot
No word on pricing or release date.

It has been confirmed that AT&T will soon be launching the LG CF750 Secret on its network. The latest rebate form for the carrier -- dated December 26 to January 24, lists a $50 discount on the Secret along with the rugged Motorola VA76r "Tundra". Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that the phone will launch in that timeframe.
